Energy-Use simulations for greener factories: Flexcon Helios for FlexSim at Autodesk University 2024

Energy-Use simulations for greener factories: Flexcon Helios for FlexSim at Autodesk University 2024

Flexcon will contribute to the Autodesk University 2024 conference with a presentation focused on advanced simulations of energy consumption to boost the efficiency of smart-factories.
On Thursday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. (PDT), Maurizio Giubilato and Sergey Astanin will present the Flexcon Helios module, integrated with FlexSim, the most advanced and powerful industrial simulation tool.

Why join?

Industry is responsible for a significant share of global GHG emissions, mainly due to energy consumption. Modern companies must go beyond measuring overall energy consumption by actively analyzing when and how they use energy.

Energy management must consider intermittent renewable sources, dynamic energy prices, and variability in CO2 intensity. The Flexcon Helios module builds on FlexSim’s long experience (more than 20 years of manufacturing applications) and enables modeling of energy requirements at every stage of manufacturing processes.

In this session, participants will discover how to use simulation to plan and optimize energy consumption, and how these models can help reduce emissions and costs, making factories greener and more efficient.

What topics will we cover?

The presentation will cover various aspects of energy planning, focusing on modeling and dynamically managing energy consumption.

Using the Helios module, you will be able to:

  • Simulate and optimize the energy requirements of different stages of the production process.
  • Define a dynamic policy for the use of energy sources, adaptable to variables such as intermittent renewable energy generation, dynamic pricing and carbon intensity.
  • Assess the total cost of the process and its carbon footprint, integrating real and dynamic data.

The goal is to offer practical, advanced insight into how energy simulations can revolutionize energy resource management on the factory floor, reducing both environmental impact and operational costs.

To whom is the session addressed?

This session targets professionals in industrial and manufacturing sectors, especially those focused on innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

Target profiles include:

  • Manufacturing and process engineers
  • Operations and sustainability managers
  • Manufacturing managers and sustainability consultants

Participants with mid- to senior-level experience will benefit from the solutions presented. These solutions offer ways to improve efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.
